Hold on...I'm Overstimulated

it’s tuesday

This week I have six albums for you—but only 4 are on streaming services. Links for them are in the playlists (rather than broken out per album) AND I have a new section with some good things to check out on the youtubes.

Teen Daze - Elegant Rhythms

This album catches Teen Daze in a smooth synthesized pop mode but more contemplative and chill compared to the retro sounds of fellow Canadians Chromeo. Super vibey and a little bit of a downer, this is an album to listen to in a dark room with the blinds cracked and a glass of wine.

Michael & The Mighty Midnight Revival - Songs for Sinners & Saints

Atlanta rap staple, guest on multiple Outkast tracks, one half of Run the Jewels, Killer Mike is a rap legend. This is a gospel hip hop album but it’s definitely not a Kirk Franklin album. Tons of guests show up and every’s having a lot of fun on this one.

Trash Can Lamb - K Freund

Found out about this one from this great interview that gets real in depth with gear and stuff. I don’t know the proper name for this genre (if one exists) but this is like ASMR for people who like jazz and glitch. You’ll know within about a minute if it’s for you or not but it was VERY FOR ME.

Oneida - Expensive Air

Post-punk is such a lazy name for music. This is just one of the avenues that punk music took during its journey through the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. It’s driving and intense, with lots of energy. Put this in your ears and you’ll be punching the air and ready to rage.

Cayce Crane - Jidaigeki Groove

One of a couple of albums that are Bandcamp-only this week, this is an album of songs built from a Sega Genesis emulator, inspired by Japanese Edo-era period dramas. Super chill and the album I’ve probably spun the most in the last week.

Parannoul - Sky Hundred

Surprise-released on Friday, this is another perfect slab of that wall of sound pop perfection from underground star Parannoul. This will make your heart soar!
