Here’s what I’ve been listening to this week:

that’s a bastl Kastle 2 FX Wizard

An absolutely gorgeous bit of instrumental magic that, at the time, felt too indebted to M83 but now, 20 years later, feels plenty distinct and criminally unheard. Perfect vibes

My Cindy Lee cd came in and I’ve listened to both discs two or three times this week on the stereo. This album was already in my AOTY 2024 list, I know, but it’s so good. Lockstepp (disc 2, track 4) is my jamm

New album from that other other other French dance pop duo. This one has more guests and is more pop-song focused, which has led to me not vibing with it quite as much. But I’m warming up to it.

They don’t make ‘em like this anymore. This 2001 album is a bit all over the place but has some really good tracks. I will forever love the heavy guitar crunch of Earth Punk Rockers just as much as I love the clicks, beeps, and robot singing of Robot Sings (As If He Were Frank Sinatra With A Half-boiled Egg And The Salt Shaker On A Breakfast Table).
